FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed cornerback Isaiah Trufant from the practice squad and waived wide receiver Mardy Gilyard.

Trufant, who adds depth to New York’s secondary, was with the Jets late last season but was waived before the AFC championship game. He was recently re-signed after being cut by Philadelphia in August, waived again and then signed to New York’s practice squad. He’s the younger brother of Seattle’s Marcus Trufant.

The moves Saturday came less than a week after the Jets claimed Gilyard off waivers from St. Louis. The fourth-round pick of the Rams last year had six catches for 63 yards as a rookie.

The Jets open their season Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
