Vancouver — Vancouver will celebrate a prehistoric Columbia River fish at the 15th annual Sturgeon Festival this weekend.
The one-day event, set for Saturday at the Water Resources Education Center, will include hands-on educational activities for children and families. Visitors can attend the “Creature Feature” reptile show and watch scientists dissect a sturgeon, among other activities. The event has drawn hundreds of attendees in past years, according to the education center.
People are also welcome to enter a sturgeon-themed photo contest, and entries will be displayed at the festival. The photo contest deadline is Monday. Rules are posted at http://www.cityofvancouver.us/watercenter.
The Sturgeon Festival is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 4600 S.E. Columbia Way.
