Romo’s fault? Not totally, Cowboys teammates say

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Although Tony Romo said “I cost us a football game,” his teammates on the Dallas Cowboys insist that’s not the case.

Several players said Monday the Cowboys wouldn’t have been in position to beat the New York Jets on Sunday night if not for Romo’s stellar play during the first 50 minutes, and that other mistakes contributed to Dallas letting a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead turn into a loss.

Still, Romo’s flubs — a fumble 3 yards from the end zone and an interception that set up the winning field goal — stand out because they were reckless decisions late in a tight game, a bad habit throughout his career.

Romo said Monday he’s “just got to make sure that doesn’t happen again, and I’m going to make sure of that.”
