CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers have reached deals with nose tackle Ron Fields and guard Reggie Wells.
The 6-foot-2, 314-pound Fields gives the Panthers some much needed experience up front, where they have two rookies in Sione Fua and Terrell McClain and a second-year player in Andre Neblett. The 6-4, 318-pound Wells has started 91 games during his eight seasons.
To make room on the roster, the Panthers will place middle linebacker Jon Beason on injured reserve Wednesday with a torn Achilles’. The other roster spot was created when the team released guard Max Jean-Gilles prior to Sunday’s 28-21 loss at Arizona.
