ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant and cornerback Terence Newman are not on the field for the team’s first practice since losing the season opener.

When practice started Wednesday at Cowboys Stadium, Bryant and Newman weren’t there for the portion opened to the media.

Bryant played through a thigh injury at the New York Jets on Sunday night, while Newman missed the game because of a groin injury sustained early in training camp.

Newman’s return is pressing because of injuries to other cornerbacks.

Orlando Scandrick is expected to miss at least Sunday’s game at San Francisco with an ankle injury, and Mike Jenkins was in and out of the opener because of a variety of injuries.

Jenkins was on the field Wednesday, but not fully suited.
