ATLANTA (AP) — Police say former Washington Wizards basketball player Javaris Crittenton will be returned Thursday to Atlanta from Los Angeles to face a murder charge.

The 23-year-old Crittenton, a former Georgia Tech star, was detained at the Los Angeles airport two weeks ago when he was about to board a flight to Atlanta.

He waived extradition and will be returned in connection with the death of 22-year-old Julian Jones, a mother of four who was hit by gunfire during a drive-by shooting, authorities say. Police say the shots were aimed at someone walking with her.

Crittenton denies involvement.

Crittenton pleaded guilty to a gun charge after a locker room altercation with Wizards teammate Gilbert Arenas last year. He served a year of unsupervised probation.
