CINCINNATI (AP) — Johnny Cueto left Cincinnati’s game against the Chicago Cubs with two outs in the fourth inning with a strained muscle in the upper right side of his back.

Cueto was visited by a trainer and pitching coach Bryan Price with one out in the fourth. After getting Alfonso Soriano to pop out for the second out a trainer and manager Dusty Baker went to the mound and Baker decided to take the right-hander out of the game. Sam LeCure relieved Cueto.

Cueto (9-5) allowed three hits with a walk and two strikeouts. He also hit a batter

He went into the game with a 2.36 ERA, .0044 behind NL leader Clayton Kershaw of Los Angeles. Cueto missed almost the first six weeks of the season with irritation in his right upper arm.
