UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) — A moped rider has been killed in a crash with a University Place police cruiser.
KOMO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/nJeUYa) that the vehicles collided at about 7 p.m. Thursday. West Pierce Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Jenny Sharp says the moped rider was wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The officer in the patrol car was transported with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash has not been determined. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.
