Pleasant Prince wins Belmont’s Pot O’ Gold Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Pleasant Prince beat 3-5 favorite Rail Trip by 412 lengths Thursday in the $58,800 Pot O’ Luck Stakes at Belmont Park.

Elvis Trujillo rode for trainer Wesley Ward and 13-1 shot Pleasant Prince ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:45.01, earning $28.20, $6.40 and $3.70. Rail Trip returned $2.80 and $2.10, while Colizeo paid $2.50 to show in the five-horse field.

Pleasant Prince rebounded from a sixth-place finish in the Iselin Stakes at Monmouth Park for his fifth win in 18 starts. Last year, Pleasant Prince won the Ohio Derby and the Oklahoma Derby as a 3-year-old.
