BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — Robbie Keane became the fourth-highest-paid player in Major League Soccer when he left Tottenham last month to sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The Irish forward has a base salary this year of $2,917,741, according to figures released Friday by the MLS Players Union. His total compensation is $3,416,243, including a prorated share of his signing bonus and other guaranteed compensation.
Galaxy teammate David Beckham is first with $6.5 million in guaranteed compensation, followed by New York Red Bulls teammates Thierry Henry ($5.6 million) and Rafa Marquez ($4.6 million). The Galaxy’s Landon Donovan, at $2.3 million, dropped to fifth.
