Butler beats Taylor 23-6

UPLAND, Ind. (AP) — Trae Heeter ran for 145 yards and a touchdown, and scored another TD on a pass from Andrew Huck as Butler defeated Taylor 23-6 on Saturday.

Heeter caught a pass from Huck for a 15-yard score early in the second quarter to open the scoring. Three minutes later, he ran for a 45-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs (2-1) a 14-0 lead.

Huck, who was 22 for 36 for 250 yards, ran for a 29-yard TD in the third quarter which made it 20-0 as Butler missed the extra point.

Taylor, an NAIA school, ended Butler’s shutout bid in the fourth quarter when Nick Freeman threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Darvon Blackmon. Freeman was 22 of 44 for 271 yards, but was intercepted three times. Butler held the Trojans to 17 yards rushing on 25 carries.
