NEW YORK (AP) — Central Connecticut State’s Chris Linares intercepted a fourth-down Wagner pass with 2:19 remaining to seal the Blue Devils’ 28-24 victory over the Seahawks in a Northeast Conference game on Saturday.

Wagner drove from its 28 with 7:31 left to the Central Connecticut State 39 but gained only 2 yards in the next three plays before Linares picked off Nick Doscher’s pass.

The Blue Devils (2-1, 1-0) broke a 21-21 tie on their first fourth-quarter possession on Gunnar Jespersen’s 36-yard pass to Denzell Jones.

The Seawolves (1-2, 1-1) then drove from their 41 to the Central Connecticut State 24 in six plays, but settled for a 41-yard David Lopez field goal after three incompletions.

Jespersen completed 12 of 19 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Devils. He also ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

Dominique Williams carried 27 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns for Wagner.
