GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Tennessee’s Justin Hunter, who leads the Southeastern Conference in receiving and ranks 10th nationally, injured his left knee on the Volunteers’ opening drive.
Hunter, who entered the game averaging 151 yards receiving, landed awkwardly on his left knee while making a 12-yard reception on Tennessee’s first passing play.
Team trainers checked out Hunter, and he walked off the field without assistance. But he eventually went to the locker room for further evaluation. There was no immediate update on his injury.
It was a huge setback for the Volunteers, who had hoped to attack Florida’s inexperienced secondary. Hunter had topped 100 yards receiving in three of his last six games, and had scored touchdowns in six of his last seven.
