Centers Koppen, Wendell inactive for Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Centers Dan Koppen and Ryan Wendell were inactive for the New England Patriots against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Koppen is expected to miss much of the season after injuring his fibula Monday night in the season opener at Miami. Wendell is out with a calf injury. Dan Connolly, who replaced Koppen against the Dolphins, is the starter.

Also inactive for the Patriots are defensive lineman Mike Wright with a concussion, linebacker Gary Guyton, wide receiver Taylor Price and running back Shane Vereen. Ryan Mallett was the third quarterback.

For the Chargers, the inactives are rookie linebackers Darryl Gamble and Jonas Mouton, wide receivers Patrick Crayton and Vincent Brown, defensive end Luis Castillo, running back Jordan Todman and cornerback Shareece Wright.
