Clark athletics: Soccer teams sweep, XC places third

The Clark College men and women’s soccer teams posted a weekend sweep of Treasure Valley and Wenatchee Valley.

The men’s team won both matches, held Friday and Saturday, 3-0.

The women’s team won their first two matches of the season, defeating Treasure Valley 3-1 on Friday and Wenatchee Valley 8-1 on Saturday.

Hudson’s Bay grad Kelsey Frasier had a hat trick against Wenatchee Valley. She had four goals in the two matches. Skyview grad Brittany Wilson had three goals in the two matches. Columbia River grad Hannah Millhollen scored twice vs. Wenatchee Valley.

Clark runners place third

The Clark College women’s cross country team placed third out of 16 teams at Saturday’s Orange Coast Classic in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Clark, led by Columbia River grad Holly Meler’s sixth-place finish on the 5K course, had 83 points. Glendale won with 27, followed by Orange Coast with 66. Meler finished in 18:25.85. Mountain View grad Katarina Mueller was eighth in 18:40.09.

The Clark men were eighth out of 18 teams. Nathan Richards was Clark’s top runner on the 4-mile course, placing 33rd in 21:29.25.
