SEATTLE (AP) — A former Bellingham, Wash., pilot and his wife were among the nine people killed at the Reno air show.

Wayne Hewitt told the Seattle Times Sunday (http://bit.ly/pH41Wx ) that his brother George Hewitt, and his wife, Wendy, were killed when a 1940s-era plane slammed into a crowded tarmac Friday.

The newspaper says George Hewitt was 60; Wendy Hewitt was 57. The couple were spectators in a box for the Cascade Warbirds, a Wash.-based group of vintage warplane owners and their supporters.

They had moved from Washington to Fort Mohave, Ariz., after Hewitt retired from Air Canada. George Hewitt was born in Winnipeg and flew as a pilot with Air Canada for more than 40 years. His brother says he remained an enthusiastic pilot upon retirement.

The Hewitts had four children, all grown and living in British Columbia.
