CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins was carried off the field on a stretcher after he injured his neck in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Collins was injured as he tried to tackle Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart on a catch. Stewart tried to hurdle Collins, whose head appeared to hit Stewart’s left hip as he dove for Stewart’s legs. Collins’ neck bent awkwardly on the hit and he landed face down on the turf with 11:57 left.

Packers teammates gathered around Collins as medical personnel strapped him to a board. Collins gave a slight wave to the crowd with his right hand as he was being carried off the field.
