MONTREAL (AP) — Arturo Gatti’s younger brother says he’s fighting over the boxer’s estate because he wants to make sure his niece and nephew get the money.
Fabrizio Gatti testified Monday he doesn’t want any money for himself. The Gatti family and Amanda Rodrigues, the boxer’s widow, are contesting who should get his $3.4 million.
Rodrigues has a will signed in Quebec three weeks before Gatti’s 2009 death that leaves everything to her and cuts out his daughter from a previous relationship. The Gatti family contends a 2007 will drafted in New Jersey leaves the estate to his mother and daughter Sofia should be recognized. Nobody can find a signed copy of that will.
The family also disputes the theory Gatti committed suicide while on vacation in Brazil.
