Baghdatis beats Bachinger in Moselle Open

METZ, France (AP) — Marcos Baghdatis seven straight games to beat Matthias Bachinger of Germany 7-5, 6-2 Monday in the first round of the Moselle Open.

Baghdatis, the Australian Open runner-up in 2006, will play third-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine in the second round.

Baghdatis won the last three games of the first set and jumped to a 4-0 lead in the second. The former top-10 player from Cyprus converted three of seven break points. Bachinger failed to convert his only break chance.
