DENVER (AP) — Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson isn’t sitting on the sideline with the college football landscape shifting.

He’s constantly looking at ways to bolster his league, including talking with Conference USA about a possible merger in football that would turn it into super conference with two divisions and at least 22 teams stretching from Hawaii to the East Coast.

With the Big East’s shake-up, Thompson also would be receptive to keeping TCU in the Mountain West beyond their scheduled departure after this season.

Not only that, but with Texas and Oklahoma considering moves, Thompson is keeping an eye on any teams that might be left over from a possible breakup of the Big 12.
