COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A prosecutor says former Missouri running back Derrick Washington joked about a sexual encounter with a former tutor that led to a sex assault charge against him.
The prosecutor told jurors about the allegation during opening arguments Tuesday in Washington’s trial on a charge of deviate sexual assault.
Washington reportedly made the remarks to the ex-tutor’s roommate, a woman with whom the one-time Tiger co-captain had a casual sexual relationship.
Washington’s defense attorney told jurors the accusations were false and the woman’s judgment was clouded by heavy alcohol use.
Washington also faces a Sept. 30 trial on two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence involving an ex-girlfriend. He has pleaded not guilty in both cases. He was dismissed from the team days before the start of the 2010 season.
