The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council has received $4.08 million to help job seekers in the region boost their skills and to find work.

The council will use the money to provide counseling, skill assessments, job search assistance and training to laid-off workers, and low-income adults and young people. Those services are available through local WorkSource offices in Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties.

The Washington Employment Security Department, which received the funding from the U.S. Department of Labor, awarded it to the council.
