GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Dustin Penner scored with 49 seconds left in the third period to give the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in a split-squad preseason game on Wednesday night.

Penner shot eluded Jason LaBarbera’s glove and trickled into the net.

Down 2-1, the Kings responded with two third-period goals for the win.

Tyler Toffoli redirected Patrick Mullen’s shot on goal with Los Angeles on the power play at 14:14 of the final period.

That came less than four minutes after captain Shane Doan put Phoenix ahead.

Doan gave Phoenix a brief lead when he converted Ray Whitney’s pass from the right face-off circle at 10:29 of the final period.
