BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — Kitsap County sheriff’s officers say a single-vehicle accident has left a man and five children hospitalized. The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/qk4OHm) that two children were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Deputy Ken Dickinson says a 31-year-old man was driving four of his own children and a neighbor’s child home from a church event when his van missed a turn and hit a tree Wednesday night.

The newspaper says deputies suspect alcohol and prescription drugs played a role, as did excessive speed.

The children range in age from 3 to 12.

The driver and the other three children were taken to a Bremerton hospital.
