JOHN DAY, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is expected to add three more routes to the state’s scenic bikeways program.

The three routes submitted to the state parks commission meeting Wednesday in John Day are:

— the 179-mile Old West tour of cattle and fossil country in the John Day River Valley,

— the 108-mile Blue Mountain Century, a wheat farm and forest ride out of Heppner,

— the 106-mile Three Sisters, in the ponderosa pine forest and high desert around Sisters.

The first scenic bikeway opened last year — the 132-miles ride through the Willamette Valley.

The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/rqAWxU ) more scenic, low-traffic roads are under consideration for the designation.
