5-year term for Richland heroin dealer in OD death

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A Richland drug dealer who supplied the heroin in an overdose death has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Thirty-five-year-old Brian Haney Burt was sentenced Wednesday in Benton County Superior Court Wednesday after pleading guilty ealier to controlled substance homicide in the 2010 death of 44-year-old Shirley E. Sanders in Kennewick.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/o48j0n ) Burt also pleaded guilty Tuesday to a similar charge in Franklin County Superior Court for the 2010 overdose death of 21-year-old Derek Scott Bradley of Pasco, whose body was found by his mother. Burt is expected to be sentenced next week to a term that will be served at the same time.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, prosecutors dropped a charge in a third overdose death.
