ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — The National Weather Service is now getting information from a new Doppler radar station on the Washington coast.

Workers erected the radar this summer on a tower near Copalis Crossing.

Forecasters say the radar will give them a better look at incoming Pacific storms and improve predictions of damaging winds and rains.

The only other Doppler radar station in Western Washington is on Camano Island and the Olympic mountains block its view of the ocean.

A Doppler radar station also is located in Spokane.
