UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United Nations spokesman’s office says the Palestinian statehood application has been relayed to the Security Council.

Washington has threatened to veto the measure if the Palestinians can muster the required support of nine of the Council’s 15 members.

The U.S., like Israel, says a Palestinian state must be negotiated by the two sides to the conflict.
