Bruins top Islanders 6-3

BOSTON (AP) — Rich Peverley and Patrice Bergeron each had a goal and two assists to lead the Boston Bruins to a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders in their preseason home opener on Friday night.

Brad Marchand added a goal and an assist.

Rick DiPietro made 20 saves for the Islanders and Tim Thomas, last season’s Conn Smythe Trophy winner, had 13 saves for Boston.

The Bruins also got goals from David Krejci, Dennis Seidenberg and Johnny Boychuk. Dylan Reese scored twice for the Islanders. Trevor Frischmon also scored for New York.
