ATLANTA (AP) — Tiger Woods might need a new partner for the Presidents Cup.
Steve Stricker, who went 4-0 with Woods as a partner two years ago, said Friday his left arm feels so weak that he could not guarantee being fit enough to play the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne in November. He says making the team was a goal and he desperately wants to play.
Stricker has a herniated disk and a bone spur that has felt progressively worse over the last two months, and he says he has felt “rotten” every day while warming up for the Tour Championship. His immediate future depends on an MRI exam scheduled for Tuesday, which he hopes will show the extent of his injury.
If he can’t play, U.S. captain Fred Couples gets another pick.
