• Morgan Stanley Smith Barney has announced that Kenneth Mogseth, a vice president and financial advisor in the firm’s wealth management office in Vancouver, has attained his certified portfolio manager designation. Mogseth has worked at the company since 1987. Candidates for the designation must successfully complete approximately 200 hours of course work, including the study of the theory and practice of asset pricing, asset management, hedge-fund management, corporate finance, fixed-income analysis and foreign exchange. Mogseth also was required to attend a weeklong program at the New York City campus of Columbia University.
• Troy Wayrynen and Steven Lane of The Columbian have won top awards in this year’s Washington-Oregon Associated Press Photo Contest for daily newspapers with circulation of less than 50,000. Wayrynen won first place for a series of photos about Camas resident Krista Colvin and her battle with breast cancer. Lane’s photos of a funeral Mass for Marine Sgt. Jason Peto of Camas, who died of wounds suffered in combat in Afghanistan, took third place. Ross William Hamilton of The Oregonian won the Reid Blackburn Award, named for a Columbian photographer killed in the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
• iQ Credit Union has hired Tim Ah Sam as lending relations officer, adding him to the credit union’s financial services team. He has more than 25 years of experience with financial institutions.
• Audrey Brouwer has been promoted to personal lines agent at Davidson Insurance. She has 21 years of experience and has worked for Davidson for 13 years. The firm is at 501 S.E. Columbia Shores Blvd., Suite 525.
• Gary LaVenture is the new administrator at Oregon Eye Specialists PC. LaVenture has a master’s degree in public administration and is a certified medical practice executive. Oregon Eye Specialists is a 16-physician ophthalmology and optometry practice with eight clinics and adjoining physician-owned optical shops located throughout the Portland metropolitan area.
• Courtney Corwin Barker has been appointed by the Independent Bottlers Association to serve on the executive committee for Pepsi-Cola. Barker is the marketing and community events manager for Corwin. She joined the family-owned Corwin company in 1998.
• Second Step Housing has added Andrea Garreffa “Andy” Orizotti to the fund development team. A graduate of the University of Montana, she moved to Vancouver three years ago. Second Step Housing provides safe, stable housing, paired with case management, for women and families escaping the cycle of homelessness in Clark County.
• Stephanie Love has joined Chiropractic Care Center as a licensed massage practitioner. She attended Everest College and specialized in massage therapy.
• Jessica Larson is the newest agent at Bryant and Associates. Larson has 10 years of experience working in the insurance and mortgage industry. Bryant and Associates is a local independent insurance agency serving Southwest Washington.
• Maia Eggleston, a Vancouver resident, has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring easy-to-prepare foods.
• The Hough Foundation board of directors has promoted longtime Hough Family Service Center director Barbara Hammon to executive director, effective Nov. 15. Kate Sacamano, who held the position of executive director since 2009, will continue serving the Foundation as a consultant focused on the development of the new Hough Community Learning Center located adjacent to Hough Elementary.
• Angela Parks of Ridgefield and Shelli Heibult of Vancouver have won top honors from lia Sophia in the jewelry sales firm’s Excellent Beginnings program, which recognizes accomplishment in an adviser’s first 15 weeks.
