Columbia Way — More than 300 people attended the 16th-annual Sturgeon Festival on Sept. 17 at the Water Resources Education Center. Steven Lattanzi of Creature Feature kicked off the event, followed by Olaf Langness, of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, who dissected sturgeon and a steelhead. Children enjoyed crafts and activities and the creative participants of the Scene-A-Sturgeon challenge showed off their photos. The photo contest called for entrants to photograph a cardboard cutout sturgeon according to one of five themes, such as “sturgeon takes a hike.”
