Letter: Just plain greed

The Columbian
Published: September 24, 2011, 5:00pm

The United States Of America — the land of the free. But how free are we?

Are we free to have a roof over our heads, or to put food on the table, or get the needed medicine to keep us alive or healthy? The answer is no. And it is even worse when you lose your job or can’t work due to illness.

When it comes to election time, think very hard about who is running for office and wants to do away with programs that help the people. They think it all should be privatized. It all comes down to greed — the rich get richer and the poor get the shaft.
