ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture is giving $830,000 in six grants in Washington to support and expand the production of biofuels.

KBKW reports the biggest share — $774,000 — goes to the Imperium Renewables plant at Aberdeen. The plant makes biodiesel using canola oil from Canada.

The USDA announced the grants Tuesday for 160 energy producers in 41 states.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack visits Seattle Wednesday to talk about how the biofuels industry will create jobs.
