JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber told a town hall meeting in Junction City Wednesday he’s committed to building a psychiatric care facility in the city as part of a plan for community-based mental health care in Oregon.

He said the Junction City facility is needed to replace aging psychiatric hospitals that will close in Portland and Pendleton.

The Register Guard reports (http://bit.ly/n3Tdx2 ) the Legislature will have to approve $29 million in construction bonds to keep plans on schedule to open a Junction City hospital in 2015.
