Sam Houston State cruises past UTSA 22-7

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Torrance Williams ran for 96 yards and a touchdown to lead Sam Houston State over UTSA 22-7 on Saturday night.

Williams’ score came on a 59-yard run midway through the third quarter that put the Bearkats (4-0) ahead 15-0.

The Roadrunners (2-3) got their only touchdown in the fourth quarter when quarterback Eric Soza ran in from a yard out. Soza led the game in passing, completing 26 of 52 for 217 yards.

The Bearkats went up 2-0 with a team safety in the first quarter. They scored in the second quarter when Keyshawn Hill caught a 2-yard pass from Richard Sincere, but the extra point kick was blocked by UTSA’s Marion Smith.

The Bearkats’ Tim Flanders ran 10 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final score. He finished with 27 carries for 93 yards.
