Texas State runs by Nicholls State in 38-12 win

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Shaun Rutherford threw three touchdown passes and Terrence Franks rushed for 105 yards and a score as Texas State defeated Nicholls State 38-12 on Saturday night.

Rutherford, who was 8 of 12 for 109 yards with an interception, hit David Lewis, Marcus Curry and Isaiah Battle with TD passes as the Bobcats (3-2) built a 31-6 lead.

Nicholls State (1-4) was limited to 208 yards of offense. LaQuinton Caston rushed for 60 yards and a TD for the Colonels.

Michael Ebbitt had four of Texas State’s seven sacks.

The Bobcats broke the game open in the second quarter. Curry’s TD reception made the score 17-6, and Franks culminated Texas State’s next possession with a 23-yard scoring run with 2:03 remaining before halftime.
