SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — An 18-year-old man from the Spokane area is dead after a kayaking accident on Rock Lake in eastern Washington.

KREM-TV reports (http://bit.ly/H9E5Mp) emergency crews got the call around noon Sunday.

Investigators say three kayakers in a group of seven tipped over on the south end of the lake in Whitman County. One was able to make it to shore, but the other two needed to be rescued.

The station reports one person was taken by ambulance to a hospital. He is said to be in good condition. The other person was taken to a hospital by helicopter, and later died.

Investigators believe the windy conditions and rough waves caused the kayaks to tip over.

No names were released.
