VIENNA (AP) — Two coaches who have been working with the Austrian ski federation for more than 15 years will join the U.S. men’s ski team for the next World Cup season.

The Austrian federation says Andreas Evers will become coach of the American downhill skiers, and that Bernd Brunner is going to coach the team’s slalom and giant slalom racers.

The federation’s sport director Hans Pum says that “both are excellent coaches … and I understand that they want to meet this new challenge.”

A former personal coach of retired great Hermann Maier, Evers was leading the Austrian speed team last season, while Brunner, who was in charge of the Austrian women’s technical squad from 2002-07, was head coach of the Europa Cup team.
