A respite from the weekend rain has kept the Columbia River just below flood stage at Vancouver.

The reading on Monday, April 2, showed the river was at 15.83 feet at Vancouver. Flood stage is considered 16 feet. At flood stage, some low-lying land, including portions of Vancouver’s waterfront trail, are submerged. The river must be much higher to cause significant property damage.

The river was at 15.8 feet at Vancouver on Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service has canceled its flood watch for the Columbia River at Vancouver; forecasters predict the river will continue to drop throughout the week.

The Vancouver river gauge is at the Port of Vancouver, near the grain elevator, a short way downstream from the Interstate 5 Bridge.
