No foul play suspected after man found dead in van

Clark County sheriff’s deputies didn’t find signs of foul play in the death of a body found in a van outside an apartment complex.

The body was found at midday Monday in front of the Meadow Wood Apartments at 6811 N.E. 121st Ave. near the intersection of Northeast Fourth Plain Road and state Highway 503.

There were no obvious signs of a cause of death or foul play, said Sgt. Fred Neiman, sheriff’s office spokesman, who spoke with Major Crimes Unit Sgt. Kevin Allais about the case Monday night.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will identify the body and determine a cause of death, Neiman said.

The body was discovered when a pedestrian saw masses of flies swarming inside the van’s windows.

That person looked in a window, saw feet and alerted deputies, Sgt. Craig Randall said.

If deputies’ belief is correct on the body’s identification, the dead man had been served with a restraining order that said he could not return to his home. It is believed he’d been living in the full-size white van, Randall said.

A resident of the Orchards-area apartment complex said the van had been parked there about two months. The complex has more than 300 units.
