NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge has sided with Nike, saying Reebok can’t sell Tim Tebow (TEE’-boh) New York Jets jerseys.

Reebok International Ltd. wanted the judge to lift his ban on apparel sales, but the judge on Wednesday decided to continue it.

The ban came after Nike Inc. sued Reebok last week, days after Tebow was traded from Denver to New York. The trade came just as the Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike was preparing to take over the NFL’s merchandising contract from Reebok.

Reebok says it sold 6,000 Tebow Jets jerseys and 25,000 T-shirts, not enough to impact Nike sales. It says only a small number of jerseys and no T-shirts contained its logo or name.

Reebok is based in Canton, Mass. It’s an Adidas AG subsidiary.
