MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — Philadelphia pitcher Kyle Kendrick is remembering a former teacher of his from Mount Vernon, Wash., during the Phillies’ annual Teachers Appreciation Night.

Arlene Moore taught Kendrick at Lincoln Elementary School. She also taught at a middle school and high school.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports (http://is.gd/Hs5mik ) that through the years she kept in contact with Kendrick and is now friends with his wife and children, too.

The Phillies plan to fly Moore and her husband to Philadelphia to receive an award during a May 11 ceremony.
