GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) — A burglary suspect holed up in a Gresham deli refused police commands to come out, but he changed his mind after hearing from a police dog.

Police say the Portland K-9 persuaded the 31-year-old suspect to surrender early Wednesday because he was worried the bite would be worse than the bark.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/c9lYg6 ) a patrol officer had discovered the burglary when he noticed a suspicious car outside the store that has been burgled in January.
