STOCKHOLM (AP) — Swedish wrestler Mathias Gunther has tested positive for doping and will miss the Olympics if the result is confirmed.

Sweden coach Benni Ljungbeck told The Associated Press on Thursday that Gunther tested positive for a banned substance at the European Championships last month, where he won a bronze medal in the 66-kilo Greco-Roman category.

Ljungbeck said Gunther claims he had been given a diuretic by a friend to reduce swelling in his foot before the competition and didn’t know that the substance was prohibited.

If the positive test is confirmed Gunther could be suspended for two years.
