MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A 20-year-old women is beginning a seven-year, five-month prison sentence after being convicted of stabbing another woman in a dark alley last year.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/I0FmJL ) that Elizabeth Rydall offered no apologies before being sentenced Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court for two assault convictions, but she sobbed after the hearing. Rydall was also charged with attempted murder but the jury did not convict her of that crime.

Prosecutors say Rydall attacked 30-year-old Samantha Tasior last October and stabbed her eight times before the victim’s boyfriend pulled a switchblade from Rydall’s hand.

Tasior says she respects the jury’s verdict but believes the evidence supports an attempted murder conviction.
