KELSO, Wash. (AP) — A Cowlitz County sheriff’s officer says a burglary has cost a Kelso, Wash.-area couple at least $80,000 in silver and gold coins.
Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig said Monday that thieves took a large safe containing thousands of one-ounce U.S. silver eagle coins, Canadian silver wolf coins, one-ounce gold eagle and buffalo coins and a 10-ounce bar of silver. Firearms and a four-wheeler were also taken.
He says the couple were out of town when their adult daughter discovered the burglary last Wednesday night.
Rosenzweig says the safe weighs several hundred pounds and it’s likely more than one person was needed to remove it.
