VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters were told there were two of them, stuck 40 feet up a tree in Vancouver, Wash. No, not cats — these were little boys.

By the time a Vancouver Fire Department crew responded Monday afternoon, a 7-year-old boy had managed to climb down, but his 10-year-old brother remained stuck high in the tree.

Firefighters used a truck with an aerial ladder. Fire spokesman Capt. Dave James says a firefighter climbed up, secured the boy with a harness and brought him down.

James tells The Columbian that the boys’ mother was at work and an older brother had gone to the store.

Neighbor Pamela Sillars says the boys have been known to climb onto rooftops and up her maple tree. She calls them “adventurous.”
