PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Talks continue between negotiators for Cascade Steel Rolling Mills and more than 300 striking workers at the McMinnville steel mill.

The union contract expired April 1 and the steelworkers walked off the job Sunday. Pay and health insurance are two of the disputed issues.

The sides have been meeting with a federal mediator in Forest Grove, and a spokesman for the union local says talks were ongoing Tuesday.

Cascade Steel melts scrap to produce rebar and other products for manufacturing and construction. It is owned by Schnitzer Steel Industries.
