ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Blues goaltender Brian Elliott left practice midway through a 90-minute practice Tuesday with what coach Ken Hitchcock is calling an upper-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

The team recalled goalie Jake Allen from Peoria (Ill.) of the American Hockey League. The Blues open the playoffs at home Thursday against San Jose.

Hitchcock said he expects Elliott to be fine and has not made a decision on whether to start Elliott or Jaroslav Halak against the Sharks. He said Elliott’s injury “is from weeks ago when he fell into the net.”

Elliott led the NHL in goals-against average (1.56) and save percentage (.940) this season after going 23-10-4.
